Tama Granstar Serial Number
Hey i guys i am looking for a Tama Granstar l or Granstar ll, if anyone has one they are looking to sell it would be greatly appreciated if you would reply back with details. Also, if anyone has a 1980's Tama Superstar, Imperialstar, or Artstar, I am interested in purchasing one of these kits too. All of these kits sound amazing and i realize they are hard to come by but if any one has one or knows where to find one it would be awesome if you would let me know. Where are you located? You know, just seen a link listed (can't remember where from right now) from somebody selling an '80s Tama Superstar finished in cherry red with all Titan hardware (BD pedal is an old Rogers job for some reason, tho), throne, and a few Zildjian cymbals.plus a really beautiful looking 8x14 snare drum (like the one I have, except mine is finished in super-mahogany instead); the kit looks in absolutely 'cherry' (no pun!) condition! The price of admission isn't too great either.
Were it not that we already have a couple of Superstar sets (and in my sights there is an Artstar Cordia wood or Yamaha CR kits from the '80s just waiting to be adopted!) I'd definitely try working a deal with the seller of those primo chery red Superstars. Im brand new to this so slack me ok? After a blessed marriage and family, president of an insurance firm and long radio career, I had a sudden string of huge misfortune. In one month my business was bulglarized,(an inside job), my wife of 22 years ran off with my right-hand man, I lost my fortune, my home, family, and due to the stress, lost my health too. So, I was forced to retire. In the insuing 10 years, I've been blessed to the point of trying to start over. Attack on titan english dub hd download.
Doctors urged me try to start drumming again. I could barely sign my name at the time but I bought a Harley, some drums, and resolved to serve God the rest of my life.
I've been gigging out at many area churches and each has its own kit. I'm going to downsize to a five-piece acoustic kit and a Roland td12 kit. SO, I am somewhat reluctantly selling my TAMA Granstar Custom kit. These babies sound like cannons! I bought them when I had the money to buy whatever I wanted and was poised to order DWs. But when I heard these and played them I was totally sold. I really had never heard drums sound so good.
So, all that said, I want to sell em. I need to get an idea of their value. I've stored them in my home for the past year but I think there are 11 drums, toms from 8 inch to 18 inches, double 22s and are all original down to two single bass drum Tama pedals. They are red wine stained color. I've been told they were built in the mid 80s and I was TOLD they were designed by Neil Pert sp and the Japanese gentleman many people know of. I was also told there were only a few sets of these made.
A kid at our local Guitar Center called Tama with a list of my serial numbers and didnt get anywhere with whoever he talked to. I'd love to know their TRUE story and get them appraised. I will sell them fairly to someone who appreciates how good these drums really are.
Can anyone help me get these appraised? No pics to post yet but will after a local drum tech and I get them all cleaned up nicely to sell. Any help is appreciated and to the person I'm replying to's post, yes they are for sale.

All of these kits sound amazing and i realize they are hard to come by but if any one has one or knows where to find one it would be awesome if you would let me know. There are several vintage Superstar and Imperialstar kits on ebay right now.Price is pretty much dictated by condition, finish, sizes and how much you want to pay.a good price for a Superstar mahogany finish 5 piece kit in good condition would be 4-500 in this economy. These is also a Tama drum forum with drums for sale.Good luck. Just to clarify on the Neal Peardt issue; he was playing around with an old kit in some studio they were recording some stuff at (probably back around Moving PIctures). It was vintage and it had thin shells. He restored them as kind of a project and liked them so much with all their resonance, he later wrote an article about it in Modern Drummer.
His argument was that violins resonate because they're made of very thin wood, so he began to question why all the Superstars / Imperialstars, and practically every other kit from around that time was making uber thick shells. So he asked Tama to make him a thin-shelled kit which they did; it was the red one that became the Artstar prototype (although it had traditional shallow depths, unlike the Artstars which had very deep toms). I think it's an interesting story because Tama was pretty much the #1 drum company at the time and much of the industry followed what they did, especially when it came to the thin-shelled Artstars. So I think it's fair to say that Neel Pertt had some impact on the thin-shelled revolution that really took hold back in the early '80s and is still around today.
(not that they weren't already around, but they weren't as popular by a long shot as the thick-shelled varieties). Im brand new to this so slack me ok?

Getting behind the kit and playing somehow miraculously can make things in life better, at least for awhile. Good luck and all the best now and in future.
